Attempted ATM Explosion in Cologne-Bayenthal

On the night of Friday (September 29th), at least two unknown people tried to blow up an ATM in a bank branch on Bonner Strasse in Cologne-Bayenthal.

According to the current status of the investigation, the security service’s video control center reported two masked men in the lobby of the Postbank branch at around 3:15 a.m. who were tampering with the ATM. Apparently without any loot, the unknown suspects ran out of the branch, which had been slightly damaged by the explosion, in an unknown direction. Investigators from the Cologne police are on site and are securing traces.

The investigators from the Cologne Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Department 23 will receive information about the crime and the person being sought by calling 0221 229-0 or sending an email to poststelle.koeln@polizei.nrw.de. (black/kk)
