A case of attempted digital fraud with a lawyer has come to light in Meerut on Thursday. The thugs made a WhatsApp call to lawyer Mohammed Rashid Siddiqui, posing as a police officer and claiming to have arrested his daughter in a drugs case. After which the lawyer got nervous

The cyber thug tried to scare the lawyer by saying that his daughter has been arrested for supplying drugs and is under investigation. The thug also played an audio clip to the lawyer, in which someone in his daughter’s voice pleaded ‘Papa, save me’. Later the lawyer along with other lawyers complained to the SSP.
Rashid Siddiqui, resident of Rambagh Colony located in Nauchandi police station area, is a lawyer and he has been practicing in the court for a long time. Rashid Siddiqui received a call on Thursday evening. The caller introduced himself as a police officer. The accused was seen in the uniform of a police officer in the DP on the phone. Tiredly he told the lawyer that I am a police officer and your daughter has been arrested in a drug supply case. Investigation is going on, the lawyer refused to accept what the thug said. After this, the accused narrated an audio clip of the voice of the lawyer’s daughter in which his daughter was heard pleading ‘Papa, please save me’. Rashid got scared after hearing the audio of his daughter’s voice and immediately informed other lawyers present in the court about the incident. Then a lawyer suggested calling him at home to confirm the situation. On calling home, the advocate came to know that his daughter was sitting and studying safely at his home. On hearing this, the lawyer realized that an attempt was being made to cyber fraud him.
