Attacks on synagogues in Germany

Germany must ensure full protection of the country’s synagogues. This was stated by Foreign Minister Heiko Maas after incidents related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Israeli flags were burned in front of synagogues in Munster and Bonn, for which 16 people were detained, BNT reported.

Authorities in North Rhine-Westphalia have stepped up security at Jewish religious temples.

Last night, police foiled a procession of about 180 people with anti-Israel slogans to the synagogue in Gelsenkirchen.

Police also intervened against another such march in Hanover, Lower Saxony.

Recently, Germany has noted with concern the resurgence of anti-Semitism, fueled mainly by the far right.
