Attacks on Independent Photographer at LGBTQ Pride Celebration in New York City

An independent photographer was attacked this Sunday in the celebration of the lgbt pride in New York City.

The man received a “bottle” on the head, while filming a fight in Washington Square Park located in Lower Manhattan. The photographer, who is identified on his Twitter account under the handle @NJEGmedia, posted a photo showing him bleeding from the back of his head.

Another photojournalist also published images of his colleague receiving help from the police, who were in the park to maintain order.

“I’m in the hospital with @NJEGmedia. The doctors just told me that he is bleeding from the brain,” the colleague tweeted.

So far the status of the victim is unknown, who also lost his camera.

“The incident occurred as police were on high alert over reports of assaults, stabbings and thrown bottles after the New York Pride parade,” the New York Post reported.

More images from the photographer’s account capture people dancing in the middle of the street and on top of cars as onlookers cheered.
