An intruder attacks the husband of the Speaker of the House of Representatives United States of America Nancy Pelosi at their home in California, United States, with a hammer, causing a skull fracture. He is currently hospitalized after undergoing surgery.
The news agency reports AFPSaturday (10/29/2022), Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill said Paolo Pelosi “He was attacked in his home by an attacker who acted violently and threatened his life while asking for a meeting with the President of the DPR”.
“Mr. Pelosi was treated at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, where he underwent successful surgery to repair a fractured skull and severe injuries to his right arm and hand,” the spokesman said.
“His doctors are expecting a complete recovery,” Hammill added.
At the time of the incident on Friday (10/28) local time, Paul Pelosi (82) was home alone as his wife worked in Washington, DC.
San Francisco police said officers found the attacker at the couple’s home just before 2:30 p.m. local time, where the attacker and Paul Pelosi were fighting over a hammer.
“The suspect pulled the hammer out of Mr. Pelosi and violently attacked him,” San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott, who later said Paul Pelosi was hit at least once, told reporters.
He identified the attacker as 42-year-old David Depape, who is now in police custody.
At a press conference late Friday, Scott said he could not publicly disclose the alleged motive for the crime.
