Virus Corona AY.4.2 already found in Singapore and Malaysia. The first two cases in Malaysia came from schoolgirls who had just returned from England.

Corona AY.4.2 or the ‘Delta Plus’ variant has recently become one of the triggers for the increase in COVID-19 cases in the UK. The UK included the Delta AY.4.2 subvariance in the category of monitored variant.

Both have reported Corona varian ‘Delta Plus’ AY.4.2, what is the condition of the two countries?

1. Singapore

Quoted from Channel News Asia, Singapore reported 3,397 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday (9/11/2021). There are 12 people who died from complications of the Corona virus.

The victims were recorded to be aged 58 to 95 years. All of them have not been vaccinated, some because they have a history of comorbidities. The total number of deaths from COVID-19 in Singapore has risen to 523.

The number of new cases reported on Tuesday was seen up from the previous record of 2,470 cases.

Hospitalization case

There are 1,700 patients treated at the hospital, 300 of whom require oxygen assistance. Meanwhile, 68 patients require intensive care in the ICU.

A total of 72 critical patients. ICU occupancy in all areas of Singapore reached 72.4 percent.

During 28 days, there were 91,844 people infected with COVID-19. Here are the details.

  • 98.7 percent of them are asymptomatic
  • 0.8 percent need oxygen assistance
  • 0.3 percent critically admitted to the ICU
  • 0.2 percent died

Malaysia

Malaysia again recorded an increase in COVID-19 cases, there were 5,403 people infected with Corona as of Tuesday (9/11/2021). While on the previous day 4,543 cases were recorded.

In fact, the downward trend in new cases of COVID-19 was seen during the last four days. The total number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia stood at 2,517,173, while the total number of deaths surpassed 7,600.

Director General of Health Dr Noor Hisham said there were 534 patients requiring treatment in the intensive care unit.

“Out of 534, 263 needed a ventilator to help them breathe, including 205 confirmed cases and 58 others suspected, possible, or under investigation,” he said.

No more cluster COVID-19 new ones were also identified today, while half were reported from the workplace. The remaining three clusters are connected to higher education institutions, educational institutions, and holding facilities.

The six new clusters now bring the total number of active clusters in Malaysia to 314.
