“Alla Islam”, “Hacked shadow.krd”, these messages appeared on the five luminous panels arranged on each side of the Kérino tunnel, on the Racker roundabout and that of the PIBS, as well as on Place Gambetta, the Monday, January 23 in the evening. A full-fledged hack that has yet to be resolved. It is a Vinci server, which built the tunnel and to which is assigned the management of this public service, which would have been hacked by hackers. “The concession company tried to repair the problem, but the messages reappeared every 15 minutes, which led me to take the decision to disconnect these panels from the electricity network”, explains Emmanuel Gros, the general manager of the services of the city of Vannes.
“A micro-event”
To deal with the most urgent, city agents had, at first, covered the panels with garbage bags. The absence of safety messages has no impact on traffic and use of the Kérino tunnel. “These luminous panels warn of the closing of the tunnel during exceptional events such as the Vannes marathon or when there are maintenance works at night. Apart from that, their presence is purely regulatory. It’s a micro-event, even if Vinci will have to find a solution,” continues Emmanuel Gros.
