Not long after the attack on De Vries, three men were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident in Amsterdam on Tuesday evening. One of them was released shortly afterwards, the other two – Kamil E. and Delano G., as we now know – are still in custody. They were stopped on the A4 near Leidschendam.
division of roles
Nothing is yet known about the motives of the two, or any clients behind the attack, but information about the suspects trickled in in the aftermath of the shooting incident. Thus, according to the police The Telegraph are familiar with the division of roles between the two: G. would have been the one who fired five bullets at De Vries, E. would have been the driver.

It is known about G. that he comes from Rotterdam, that he has an Antillean background and that he has previously been in contact with the police.
More information came out about the Polish suspect E.. E. lived in Maurik in Gelderland, where, according to De Gelderlander, he lived with his heavily pregnant wife and children in a terraced house. E. also came into contact with the police earlier, as recently as a week ago.
Wanted in Poland
A spokesman for the East Netherlands police confirmed that he had been arrested for a threat. He would be released shortly afterwards. Yesterday it was also announced that the man is wanted in his own country for theft and robbery. That reports the Polish TV channel TVN42.

De Telegraaf paints a picture of E., among others by his neighbours. In his hometown of Maurik he would run a one-man business for assembly work. Local residents describe him as a ‘nice man, who always greeted him in a friendly manner’ but spoke poor Dutch.
Scare in Maurik
Unrest arose in the Gelderland village of 4000 inhabitants after the police entered his house following the arrest of E.. “First we were startled by the news of the attack. The second shock was that one of the suspects is from this municipality,” said Mayor Josan Meijers of the municipality of Buren.

When looking for a cause behind the attack on De Vries, the link is regularly made to top criminal Ridouan Taghi. In 2019, De Vries revealed that he was on a death list of the main suspect in the Marengo trial. De Vries is the confidential counselor of Nabil B., a key witness in the liquidation process.
Criticism Weski
Inez Weski, Taghi’s lawyer, criticized the coverage of the attack yesterday. In a press statement she writes that “without any objective substantiation” is pointed to her client as responsible for the event, reported the NOS. Weski hopes that the attack on De Vries will be thoroughly investigated, in which all possible scenarios will be considered.
No more is known about the condition of De Vries than that he is fighting for his life in the secured UMC hospital in Amsterdam.
