Attack on the Cuban embassy in 2020 continues without US condemnation

Havana. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, denounced this Tuesday that four years have passed since the attack on the Cuban embassy in Washington, without the US government declaring the act as terrorist.

The chancellor pointed out on the social network

On April 30, 2020, in the early morning hours, the citizen of Cuban origin Alexander Alazo fired 32 projectiles from a semi-automatic rifle at the diplomatic headquarters, endangering the lives of 10 officials who were in the building.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident and it only caused material damage to the property. However, the White House opted for silence instead of rejecting the incident, classified as serious by the Antillean country.

The Foreign Minister himself said on that occasion that the attitude of the US administration made them complicit in the event.

On September 24, 2023, the Cuban embassy in Washington suffered a second terrorist attack, when an individual threw two Molotov cocktails from the sidewalk over the perimeter fence of the facility, which hit the front wall of that diplomatic mission.

The attack did not cause any damage to the personnel who were at the headquarters and at the request of the Cuban diplomatic mission, US Secret Service officers appeared at the embassy and had access to its facilities to verify the violent action perpetrated.

According to official data, at least 581 acts of State terrorism have occurred against diplomatic representations of Cuba since the triumph of the Revolution in January 1959.
