The Hamburg police have arrested a suspected sex offender in Bramfeld. The 38-year-old may be a serial offender who has repeatedly attacked women in order to abuse them.
The police had deployed more officers in the Wandsbek and Bramfeld area. On Saturday, the man who was arrested was walking near Haldesdorfer Strasse in Bramfeld. There he harassed and grabbed a young woman. What he did not know was that she was a policewoman in plain clothes. The officer was probably used as a decoy. The police have not confirmed this for investigative reasons.
On the run: 38-year-old jumps into storm water retention basin
Shortly after the attack on the plainclothes officer, the 38-year-old fled and jumped into the Osterbek stormwater retention basin. Other plainclothes detectives who were also deployed there were finally able to arrest him. The accused is now in custody. He is said to have harassed two women last June, in both cases near the Wandsbek-Gartenstadt subway station.
