The wolves attacked a sheepfold in Alba County and killed 120 animals, according to information provided by DSVSA Alba representatives. It would be about 60 sheep and 60 lambs. The attack took place on the night of May 5 to 6 in Sânbenedic (Fărău commune), very close to the communal road, at about 50 meters.
In the absence of witnesses, the authorities took into account two options: either wolves or jackals, whose number has increased greatly in the county, especially during the Mureș River.
Eventually, after analyzing the bites and the traces, they came to the conclusion that it was a pack of wolves.
Ocolul Silvic and other competent institutions, including DSVSA ALBA, will form a commission to investigate what will happen and to find a solution to compensate the shepherd, who was left with 150 sheep from the entire herd.
