Alcaraz had won his fourth ATP Challenger tournament on Saturday and thus secured entry into the top 100 tennis players. “I’m very happy to be in the top 100 now,” said the 18-year-old following his win. “That was one of my dreams as a kid.”https://www.tennisnet.com/

The 18-year-old made up 20 places with his tournament victory and is now number 94 in the ATP ranking. Trend: increasing sharply.

He also replaces Lorenzo Musetti (19 years old) as the youngest player in the top 100. The Italian made his Top 100 entry only in March, curiously enough, it was also ranked 94th.

Musetti continues to climb as well, he reached the semi-finals in Lyon (defeat in three sets against Stefanos Tsitsipas) and thus made up twelve places. He ranks 76th on his new career high.

But back to Alcaraz: As the ATP reports, he is the youngest player since Borna Coric in 2014 to crack the Top 100 – Coric was only 17 years old at the time. Since the introduction of the ATP world rankings in 1973, Alcaraz has also been the second youngest Spaniard to make it into the top 100. The youngest? Of course: Rafael Nadal – he succeeded on April 21, 2003, when he was only 16 years old.

Djokovic continues to be number one in the world

At the top, however, there is nothing new: Novak Djokovic continues to lead ahead of Daniil Medvedev, Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev. Roger Federer stays eighth.

Casper Ruud is also celebrating a new career high in 16th place – he had won in Geneva.

Tim Pütz climbs in doubles

The best Germans: Alexander Zverev (6th), Jan-Lennard Struff (42nd), Dominik Koepfer (57th) and Yannick Hanfmann (93rd).

Tim Pütz also climbs further up in doubles: he won with Hugo Nys in Lyon on Sunday and is now in 38th place, higher than ever.

Pütz was the last winner in Estoril (with Nys) and semi-finalist in Madrid (with Alexander Zverev). Kevin Krawietz (16th) and the injured Andreas Mies (22nd) are ahead of him.

The best Austrians: Dominic Thiem (4th), Dennis Novak (110th), Jurij Rodionov (142nd), Sebastian Ofner (171th).
