In the second round Giannessi will have to contend with the French Richard Gasquet, n.59 ATP and fourth seed, never faced in his career.
Marco Cecchinato also did well. the 28-year-old from Palermo, 82 ATP, winner of the 2018 edition, liquidated the Slovenian for 61 64, in just 65 minutes Aljaz Body, n.58 in the ranking and fifth seeded, without conceding even a point-break. The 31-year-old from Ljubljana was in the lead 7 to 1 in previous matches with the 28-year-old from Palermo, who had won his last one, in the round of 16 of the ATP 250 in Parma last May.
