ATP Masters: Tsitsipas stops Djokovic conqueror Evans

Nadal conqueror Andrej Rublev is playing for the first Masters title of his career in Monte Carlo. The Russian will face Stefanos Tsitsipas (Greece) in the final on Sunday (2.30 p.m. / Sky), who will also take part in one of the nine top-class tennis tournaments after his first triumph.

Rublev (23) prevailed after his success over the eleven-time champion Rafael Nadal (Spain) in the semifinals against the Norwegian Casper Ruud 6: 3, 7: 5.

Tsitsipas (22) had previously given the Briton Daniel Evans no chance at 6: 2, 6: 1 and moved into his third Masters final after Montreal 2018 and Madrid 2019. Evans surprisingly eliminated world number one Novak Djokovic (Serbia) during the tournament.

With another victory Rublev would be the second Russian winner in the principality after Andrei Tschesnokow in 1990, which would also push Alexander Zverev of the same age from sixth place in the world rankings. The Hamburger was eliminated in the round of 16 against the Belgian David Goffin.
