Milos Raonic fulfilled his part of the mandate for Canada when he entered the ATP Cup against Serbia.
The great server gave his team a 1-0 lead with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Dusan Lajovic.
The next duel will pit Denis Shapovalov and Novak Djokovic. A doubles match may be necessary in order to break a possible tie.
Raonic was never worried in this meeting which lasted just under 80 minutes. He allowed no break point to his rival and he closed the books on an ace.
Canada play in Group A with Serbia and Germany.
