The final of the Tennis Professionals Association (ATP) tour due to the coronavirus pandemic will not take place in Milan this year, the tour representatives announced on Friday, announcing the revised annual calendar.

In the “interim” schedule, the course of events “may change, and health and safety assessments will continue, following international travel policy and government-imposed conditions for sporting events,” the ATP said.

“All activities will be conducted in accordance with strict guidelines regarding health and safety, social distance, reduced or no support,” says ATP.

The Rome Masters tournament has been moved a week ahead, starting on September 14, taking the place of the canceled Madrid tournament.

This will be followed by a tournament in Hamburg before the French Open on clay courts, which starts in Paris on September 27.

The ATP final in London will start on November 15, two weeks after the last Masters of the year tournament in Paris.

“Tennis is starting to return to the courts, while we must first take care of the health and safety of everyone involved. We hope to be able to maintain these tournament opportunities and end the season on an ascending note, ”says ATP President Andrea Gaudenci.

“I would like to commend the tournament organizers for their commitment, flexibility and ingenuity in finding solutions to these difficult circumstances,” he added.

The men’s tennis season will resume on August 22 with the Western & Southern Open, which has been moved from Cincinnati to New York. It will take place at Flushing Meadows just before the US Open, which begins on August 31st. Viewers will be denied access to the tournaments.

However, several stars, including champion Spaniard Rafael Nadal, will not go to the tournament, citing the problems caused by the coronavirus.
