Matteo Berrettini reached the second round of the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna.
The 25-year-old from Rome, number 7 in the world ranking and third favorite in seeding, defeated the Australian on his debut in the evening Alexei Popyrin, # 77 ATP, passed through the qualifiers with the result of 76 (3) 63 after 1 hour 33 minutes of the match.
In the second round the blue will challenge Nikoloz Basilashvili.
It should be noted that in the first set Matteo was missing a break point on 5 all but in the tiebreak he was more incisive and won the fraction by 7 points to 3.
In the second set Berrettini on 3 to 2 placed the winning paw and a few minutes later he closed the game for 6 to 3 giving only one point to the service in the remaining two rounds of service.
