The Atom electric car is to be produced in Kaliningrad, at the Avtotor plant, where BMW, Kia and Hyundai were produced before the attack on Ukraine.
Russian media have published the first images of the electric drive model Atom. They reportedly show the first test prototype (a mule), but the company promises to show a pre-production prototype in 2024.
Until now, Russia has been developing “its own models” by replacing the nameplates of Chinese cars, but the Atom will really be its own, as it will be produced from parts made in Russia.
The car will be produced at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad, where BMW, Kia and Hyundai were previously assembled, and should cost under 1.5 million rubles (around €15,000).
