Atmospheric discharge kills two people in Huíla – Jornal OPaís

Two people lost their lives last night as a result of an atmospheric discharge caused by heavy rains that fell across the entire territory of the province of Huíla and in general in the country.

The two deaths occurred in the municipalities of Humpata and Caconda. In the first, a 65-year-old citizen was the victim, who was sheltering from the rain inside her residence.

The second occurred in the Commune of Cusse, which is 15 kilometers from the municipal headquarters of Caconda, fatally affecting a minor under 16 years of age, when she was at home with her parents.

The information was provided today by the spokesperson for the Provincial Command of the Civil Protection and Fire Service, fire inspector, Teresa Abel, who presented an overview of the operational situation over the last seven days.

On the other hand, a 33-year-old citizen lost his life as a result of a road accident that occurred recently in the town of Chibemba, municipality of Gambos, which ended with the fire of one of the vehicles involved in the accident.

According to the Fire Department spokeswoman in Huíla, the accident, which fatally killed the driver of the blue and white Toyota Hiace vehicle, who was working as a taxi in that location, resulted from the collision with a another made by Toyota, model Land Cruizer, which was heading towards Lubango/Cunene.

“We had a record of extinguishing a small class B fire, resulting from a road accident due to the collision of two vehicles, on Estada Nacional 105, which completely combusted the Toyota Hiace brand vehicle”, he described.

In addition to the driver, Teresa Abel, the fire also caused serious injuries to two other occupants of the charred vehicle, one 16 years old and the other 36, who were taken to the Chibemba Community Health Center, having been later transferred to Lubango Central Hospital.

On the other hand, the Fire Department spokeswoman clarified that the main cause of the accident was an irregular change of direction.

During seven days, Teresa Abel said that the Provincial Command of the Civil Protection and Fire Service recorded 35 different incidents, of which 22 were caused by the rains that fell across the country.
