“My puppy jumped when he heard the sound, so hard it was,” this is how several residents of South Philadelphia rose after a home explosion occurred in their neighborhood early Tuesday morning.
And is that according to the police, the explosion would have been the product of a crime, where someone tried to explode an ATM between 5th Street and Snyder Avenue at around 3:30 am.
Philadelphia authorities are investigating the alleged explosion of the ATM located outside a Wells Fargo bank in the morning in Chestnut Hill, north of the city.
The police explained that the outbreak was such that it led to “numerous” calls to 911 during that hour.
“Anyone is already scared,” said Yudith, who works nearby. “You don’t feel safe anymore.”
The incident came six months after another ATM was blown up in the Northern Liberties area in March, also in the middle of the morning and resulted in the theft of thousands of dollars.
During the summer of 2020, several ATM explodes were recorded in various areas of Philadelphia.
