With this victory, the Pirata, who had not won for six games, cut a positive streak for the Decano who had not lost for nine games at home and prevented them from being the only runner-up to Vélez in the local competition.
With the aim of breaking a negative streak of six games without scoring three points, Belgrano imposed the conditions early on thanks to a dead ball in Tucumán and struck first with the head of Aníbal Leguizamón, who entered through the second post to open the scoring of the match. Before 15 minutes, the controversy of the afternoon began that claimed the entire Decano: in Bajamich’s eagerness to play the ball inside the area, Quignón’s hand got in the way.
However, referee Dario Herrera was not called by the VAR, as he considered that the hand was not raised sufficiently to award the penalty.
