Less than a week after the confirmation of Cuca’s farewell, who has not renewed his contract for the 2023 season, the Atletico-MG is very close to announcing its new coach: Eduardo Coudet, 48, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The definition took place this Saturday (19), after a few meetings. Coudet will arrive at Atlético with a one-year contract and the challenge of leading the alvinegro team in the year of the inauguration of the MRV Arena. 90% of the works on the Galo stadium are completed and its inauguration is scheduled for March 2023. The team’s first match will take place in May, in an international friendly. From June, Atlético will move permanently to the MRV Arena.
Eduardo Coudet was Atlético’s second option, who also sought fellow Argentinian Juan Pablo Vojvoda, who opted to renew his contract with Fortaleza. Coudet responds to the profile outlined by the Alvinegra management, who want to have a protagonist, offensive team on the field. Also, since he worked at Internacional in 2020, he is a foreign coach who already knows the Brazilian calendar well.
At Inter, Coudet worked with Rodrigo Caetano, Galo’s current sporting director. Indeed, the leader was one of the enthusiasts in the choice of coach who was at Celta de Vigo, in Spain, but was sacked from the post earlier this month.
