Atletico Madrid Hajar Granada, Simeone Happy to Lead the Spanish La Liga Standings

FAJAR.CO.ID, MADRID—Atletico Madrid immediately perched on top of the standings in the first week of the Spanish La Liga. That was after they beat Granada at the Wanda Metropolitano.

The hosts had to wait until the 45+4′ minute to take the lead through Alvaro Morata.

Granada then equalized in the 62nd minute thanks to a goal by Samuel Omorodion who successfully completed Villar’s pass.

Atletico responded quickly and took the lead again in the 67th minute after Yannick Carrasco’s cross was well finished by Memphis Depay.

Atletico’s 3-1 win was determined by Marcos Llorente. The former Real Madrid player got his name on the scoreboard in the 90 + 8′ minute.

With this victory, Atletico are temporarily at the top of the standings with a goal productivity advantage. And it seems that coach Diego Simeone is very happy with their successful start to the season.

“It was important to start winning with the difficulties we had in the game. In the first game only two teams won at home, it won’t be easy,” he said in Marca. (amr)
