Atletico Madrid have given up two attackers (Joao Felix to Chelsea, Matheus Cunha to Wolverhampton) in the winter window and now the focus is on signing replacements. Among other things, the Rojiblancos look towards Italy.
As Fichajes.com reports, Atletico Madrid are interested in Nicolò Zaniolo (23) from AS Roma. However, the Italy international is on the shopping list of many top clubs, most notably Juventus. The Bianconeri have been trying to find a flexible attacker for years. Borussia Dortmund also expressed interest.
Roma have not yet given up on plans to extend Zaniolo’s contract, although the 23-year-old has so far given the Giallorossi the cold shoulder. The offensive player is set under Jose Mourinho (59), with Paulo Dybala and Tammy Abraham he forms a strong offensive department.
Zaniolo joined the capital from Inter Milan in 2018, his working paper expires in 2024. Roma could be forced to sell next summer, otherwise there is a risk of a free transfer.
Memphis Depay joins FC Barcelona
Atletico Madrid signed the first offensive new signing of the winter in Memphis Depay (28) from FC Barcelona. Depay already trains with Atleti, but the deal has not yet been officially announced.
The numbers have already leaked. The Colchoneros pay up to four million euros for the Dutch international. They also allow Barça a transfer option for Yannick Carrasco. The Catalans would have to pay less than €20m for the Belgian in the summer.
