Atletico foundered, Simeone annoyed with Guardiola and said this

Madrid

Atletico Madrid eliminated by Manchester City in the quarter-finals Liga Champions. Diego Simeone expressed his displeasure with comments Pep Guardiola.

Atletico were kicked out 0-1 on aggregate after a 0-0 draw against City at the Wanda Metropolitano, Thursday (14/4/2022) early morning WIB. In that match, Los Rojiblancos appeared aggressive by creating 14 attempts (3 on target). Meanwhile the Citizensdespite winning possession, made only 10 attempts (1 on target) including an attempt that hit the crossbar in the first half.

Chaos also colored the match which started with a confrontation between Stefan Savic and three City players: Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, and Raheem Sterling. Savic’s commotion with Grealish continued in the players’ hall after the match until the two had to be separated.

On the other hand, the commentary war between Simeone with Guardiola is also quite exciting. Starting from a mistake Guardiola due to Atletico’s ultra-defensive style of play in the first leg, in which he brought up “prehistoric times”. After qualifying for Man City, Guardiola explained that he did not intend to criticize Simeone’s tactics.

“I’m just saying that in the past, now and in the future it’s always difficult to face a team that defends really well. I’m just saying that. I always speak good things about the club and its team. Cholo [Simeone] free to play the way he wants, nothing else,” said Guardiola.

Diego Simeone doesn’t seem to believe the Manchester City manager’s explanation. “I have no reason to comment on whether someone said good things or bad things,” said the Argentine coach in Eurosport.

“Often, those with a large vocabulary are very intelligent, and they can compliment you with contempt. But those who may have a smaller vocabulary are not stupid either,” murmured Simeone.
