Atletico fans’ awful plan to insult Vinicius

We can once again fear the worst for Vinicius Junior and the image of Spanish football this Sunday during the derby between Atletico and Real Madrid.

The tension between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid supporters has always existed even if the Colchoneros have not always been a serious rival for the White House. This has been the case for years and in particular the arrival of Diego Simeone who almost systematically poses problems for the Madrid neighbor.

Over the last two years, however, numerous excesses have been noted, especially towards Vinicius Junior, and the match is already classified as very high tension by the Spanish authorities and La Liga. We remember in particular that in January 2023, a doll of the Brazilian was hung, hanged, from a bridge near Real Madrid City, where Carlo Ancelotti’s men train.

There were also racist chants, outside and in the stadium during the last matches and a young 8-year-old girl was even targeted near the stadium when she wanted to attend the derby wearing a Vinicius jersey in company of his aunt. Luckily, other Atletico supporters had come to help in the situation and the author of the (racist) insults was arrested.

Masks to insult Vinicius

Unfortunately, we fear a new tragic episode this weekend since in recent days, Colchoneros fans have launched a movement accompanied by the hashtag #MetropolitanoConMascarill in order to invite people to come to the stadium wearing a mask in order to be able to insult Vinicius Junior with complete impunity and without taking the risk of being identified by surveillance cameras as Sport explains.

“This Sunday, you already know” via X.

On social networks, many messages using this hashtag are accompanied by racist messages and La Liga has already received reports. Basically, this movement aimed to protest against the false information circulating around Atletico de Madrid. True or not, the basic message has already been hijacked by a group of Atletico fans.
