On Thursday, the king in “The King Commands”, Atle Antonsen (54), is back after a year’s quarantine.
It was in November last year that Antonsen was reported for racism and reckless behavior by writer and public debater Sumaya Jirde Ali.
Four days after the report became known to the public, Antonsen chose to step down from his role as presenter in the popular comedy program “Kongen Befaler”.
Bård Ylvisåker took over the role of presenter, but after one season it became clear that Antonsen would return to the throne.
– Now we are back
Ahead of the season debut, Atle Antonsen and his partner in the TV programme, Olli Wermskog (38), have had a chat with TV 2.
– It is as if nothing has happened. I don’t think you’re going to think I’m a different guy. I think you (Olli Wermskog, journ.anm.) tried to stir it up a bit with another king, but now we are back in place, says Antonsen to TV 2.
Wermskog says that he thinks the reunion has been “nice” and that “there is no difference”.
When Discovery confirmed that Antonsen was going to take back the throne, director of communications at Warner Bros-Discovery, Hanne McBride, stated that there should be room for forgiveness.
– On a general basis, we are not supporters of canceling content. We are also not in favor of canceling people from the TV screen and the public. There should be room for forgiveness of people who have made mistakes and asked for forgiveness, McBride told VG.

Impressed
The participants who will appear on the TV screen in the brand new season consist of Marte Stokstad, Christian Skolmen, Tete Lidbom, Stian Blipp and Tuva Billing.
In each programme, the participants are served various tasks which must be solved in the most creative and efficient way possible.
Antonsen and Wermskog have allowed themselves to be impressed by the new gang, and after recording the first two episodes, the presenters can reveal that they are very satisfied with the effort.
– I have a feeling that these are perhaps the two best starter programs we’ve had, says Antonsen to TV 2.
