Atlas Lions could play two CANs and one world in one year

No Lions games in 2020

Atlas Lions will be in high demand in a year. After the postponement of CAN 2021 to January 2022, CAF decided to maintain CAN 2023, which will take place in Côte d’Ivoire in January 2023.

Asked about this at a press conference, the president of the African Football Confederation (CAF), Ahmad, was adamant about the maintenance of CAN 2023 in Côte d’Ivoire.

Thus, the Atlas Lions could participate in two CANs in one year. The African leader recalled the precedent of the years 2012-2013 when two CANs were linked at the time of the transition from even years to odd years.

As a reminder, the Qatar 2022 World Cup is scheduled from November 21 to December 18, one month before the initial date of CAN 2023. CAF will study the possibility of playing CAN 2023 in summer. If the date of January is maintained, the Atlas Lions could then participate in three major tournaments in the space of a year.

Whatever CAF decides, a very busy program awaits the Lions of Vahid Halilodzic’s Atlas starting in 2021. This does not displease fans of the national team who are eager to find their favorites after the health crisis.
