Atlanta United has extended the year-end contract with Julian Gressel (25, photo) for another year. The MLS club announced this in a press release on Friday. Leandro González Pírez (27), who, like Gressel, was called a “key player”, is also held longer.

Gressel has played for Atlanta for three years and was voted Rookie of the Year in his first season in 2017. In 98 MLS games, the midfielder scored 15 goals and 32 assists. In the past season, in which he also scored two goals in the playoffs, Gressel was one of United’s best scorers within the club.
