An eight year old girl is in Atlanta in the US state of Georgia Shots was killed. The child was in a car with his mother and her boyfriend, according to local media reports. The shots were fired near the fast-food restaurant, in front of which the African American Rayshard Brooks died in mid-June from being shot by a white police officer.

The mother’s friend wanted to drive the car to a parking lot on Saturday evening when a group of armed men approached the vehicle and blocked his access, the media reports said. Several shots were fired at the vehicle from within the group. The child was seriously injured. The Girl died later in the hospital.

Atlanta: Girls shot dead – Mayor asks for help

The Mayor of Atlanta Keisha Lance Bottomssaid at a press conference on Sunday evening that at least two people had fired shots at the car. She asked witnesses to help solve the crime.

According to media reports, three other people were shot dead in Atlanta in addition to the eight-year-old and an additional 22 people were shot dead on the long weekend on which the United States celebrated its Independence Day.
