Atlanta promotes Landry Fields to general manager job

Landry Fields continues to take steps forward in his career as an executive. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPNthe hitherto GM assistant has been promoted to the position of general manager of the Atlanta Hawks.

At 33 years old, Fields will continue to work under the direction of Travis Schlenk, who holds the position of president of basketball operations for the Georgia franchise.

After a five-year playing career between the New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors, Fields quickly moved into office work. He was first with the San Antonio Spurs, where he was a scout from 2016 to 2019 before taking over the management of the Austin Spurs. Already in 2020 he moved to the Hawks, where he now continues to progress.

Fields, along with Schlenk, will have work ahead of them. The president assured more than a month ago that they would be very active in the market, since the plan to maintain the same workforce from one year to the next has not worked. Such notice adds to the multiple rumors that have surrounded the team in recent weeks, with names like Zach LaVine, Rudy Gobert or Jerami Grant emerging as business targets.
