Jackpot for Johnson: The golf world number one Dustin Johnson won the final of the PGA Tour for the first time and received a bonus of 15 million US dollars.
The American prevailed in Atlanta / Georgia after a final round of 68 with three strokes ahead of his compatriots Justin Thomas and Xander Schauffele.
“I really wanted to win this trophy once. It’s difficult. But I had my own fate in my hands and I knew what I had to do,” said Johnson, adding: “I had a lot of great players right behind me.”
McIlroy lands in 10th place
Defending champion Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) finished tenth, ten strokes behind Johnson. Superstar Tiger Woods (USA) did not qualify for the final of the 30 best golfers on the US tour this year.
