At SAS you can currently secure relatively cheap tickets on the route from Zurich to Atlanta. The round trip is available from 371€. We were able to find availability in November 2024 and January and February 2025. The price includes a personal item and 8 kg of hand luggage. If you need checked luggage, you can use the fare SAS Go Smart Book directly with the airline from 456€.
Flights from Zurich to New York, Chicago and Boston are also available for the same price.

To enter the USA you need either THIS (for about 20€) or a visa. You can find further information on entering the US in our guide and at Federal Foreign Office.
A fee of €150 plus the fare difference between the old and new flight will be charged for a rebooking. Unfortunately, it is not possible to cancel the ticket. Only a refund of taxes and fees would be permitted. Please note that third-party providers charge additional processing fees in these cases.

Round trip flight from Zurich to Atlanta with SAS from 371€ (hand luggage)
The feeder flight from Zurich to Copenhagen is operated with either Embraer 195 or an Airbus A320. On the long-haul route to Atlanta, SAS uses an Airbus A350. In Economy Class, there are a total of 228 seats in a 3-3-3 configuration. The average seat pitch is 79 centimeters. All seats are equipped with a USB port and an 11-inch HD screen for in-flight entertainment.
The journey time on the outbound flight is a good 12 hours and on the return journey it is around 18 hours due to the longer stopover in Denmark.
An Airbus A321neo is used on the route from Copenhagen to Boston. In this case, the 123 seats in Economy Class are arranged in a 3-3 configuration. On flights to Chicago and New York, an A330 is often included in the flight plan. There you will find a 2-4-2 configuration. You can see the type of aircraft planned in the flight details during the booking process.

Unfortunately, the fare rules do not reveal how long the cheap flights can be booked. We were able to determine availability in the following travel periods:
- November 2024
- January to February 2025
The minimum stay is 6 days or one night from Saturday to Sunday; a maximum length of stay is not specified in the fare regulations. However, with a valid ESTA authorization, the stay in the USA is limited to a maximum of 90 days. Stopovers in Copenhagen are not permitted as part of this offer.
You can find suitable dates quickly and easily using Google Flights (Instructions). You can then book directly with SAS (from €371) or alternatively through one of the providers in the Kayak flight search (from €364). However, due to the minimal difference, we recommend booking directly with the airline.

The tickets are sold in booking class T For the example flight linked above from Zurich via Copenhagen to Atlanta, the mileage credits are expected to look like this:
If you book the Go Smart fare with checked baggage, the credit increases to at least 2,000 points. It is currently unclear whether or how many miles you can collect with other SkyTeam frequent flyer programs such as Flying Blue or Delta SkyMiles.
