Brunswick/Magdeburg/DUR – Baris Atik’s comeback lasted only 15 minutes: In the away game against Eintracht Braunschweig, the offensive star of 1. FC Magdeburg had to be substituted early on Sunday.
Atik had missed FCM’s first game of the season due to a strain, but returned to the starting line-up against Braunschweig. After 15 minutes, he fell to the ground without being touched by an opponent and held his calf.
Atik immediately indicated that he could not continue playing and left the field, and Tatsuya Ito came in for him. Coach Christian Titz confirmed after the game that the old injury had flared up again, and the 29-year-old may now be out for a longer period.
1. FC Magdeburg: Herbert Bockhorn injured in a tackle
A little later, coach Christian Titz had to make another substitution. Herbert Bockhorn, who had been somewhat surprisingly included in the starting eleven, injured his calf in a tackle. He was treated for a long time before the signal was given to make the substitution.

While Bockhorn limped to the dressing room with a bandaged left knee, Philipp Hercher came on after just 22 minutes. The club is still awaiting a diagnosis for the right-back. “We have to examine Herbert, his knee took a pretty heavy blow,” said Titz.
Marcus Mathisen and Livan Burcu also injured
And that’s not all! The strong Marcus Mathisen also stayed in the dressing room at half-time. The Dane had collided with opponent Jan Tauer early in the game and was then treated for two minutes on the head. He was unable to continue, and Andi Hoti came on as a replacement.

Shortly before his substitution in the 74th minute, Livan Burcu also twisted his ankle without any external influence and had to be treated. He limped off the pitch with the medical team. Coach Titz then spoke of an injury to the patellar tendon. Bryan Teixeira came in for Burcu.
Titz had to accept the first loss on Sunday morning when Tobias Müller reported sick. “He developed severe fevers overnight,” said Titz, who brought Falko Michel into the matchday squad.
