The French cross-country championships which were disputed yesterday, in Montauban, crowned champions. But above all, they marked the big comeback of high-level competition after 18 months of waiting on the part of the riders in the specialty. Nearly 3,000 competitors have traveled to the Allègres racecourse in Montauban and its courses which have proved to be very selective. And among the titled champions, an Aveyronnaise stood out. Originally from Espalion, the CA licensee Balma finished 6th in all categories of the women’s long cross, and was also titled in the team. And in the Aveyron delegation that traveled to Montauban, it was above all the young people who shone. The youngsters who competed in the French Cup in selection, either league or department, have left their mark on the event. The best results of the day were among these young athletes, with a fine 8th place individually for Noreen Sdour Fort, Ruthénoise, ex-Villefranchoise, and first in the Occitanie group. And that of Gwladys Bouzat, of Courir en Lévézou, who finished 20th overall and 5th Occitan. With their teammates from the Ligue Occitanie, the two Aveyronnaises climbed on the third step for a first national podium. In small boys, Yvi Robert of the Rodez club showed himself to his advantage by taking 27th place and finishing 1st Occitan. While the 4th regional selected, Mathys Arbin from Luc-la-Primaube ranked 66th. Among the older ones, we will find the top 100 hooked by Rodez’s junior girl, Caroline Chéné, 79th, by the master blood and gold, Jean René Delance, 82nd or even Luco-Primaubois Loan Arguel, 96th in the cross court. The 2021 cross-country season has finally ended and the athletes will immediately refocus on the 2022 season, and a final scheduled for February 20 in the park of the Château de Vabre, before a France in the Parisian city of Mureaux. .
