Athletics: Sports Challenge from Klosterfelde – one kilometer more every day

Silke and Jörg Stutzke have implemented a sporty idea for the run-up to Christmas. The Barnimers invited their running group to an advent calendar challenge. As many kilometers are run as the advent calendar shows.

That was more insidious than expected, reveals Silke Stutzke. Until December 10th, the route lengths were still moderate, but then it became challenging. “At the beginning you think: the longest route is 24 kilometers. Thats still alright. But if you ran 23 kilometers the day before and 22 kilometers before that, then it’s really exhausting, ”she reported on Tuesday, when she had just completed 22 kilometers – in the rain. Some of the ultra running group have therefore already been eliminated. “Unfortunately, one of them had to stop because he had to be quarantined due to corona. At first he thought about walking around his living room table, but that didn’t work, ”says Silke Stutzke with a laugh.

Not an idea for inexperienced runners

The challenge is not recommended for non-ultra runners because of the very demanding route lengths. But the two run-crazy Barnimers have a great other idea. “You can do it with minutes instead of kilometers. So you start running for one minute on December 1st and increase it to 24 minutes by Christmas Eve, ”she suggests. It’s too late for that this year, but of course you can also start perfectly with the Minute Challenge in January. So you can implement your good intentions straight away.
