With the exception of the Nancy half-marathon which had benefited from a small favorable window in October 2020, all races outside the stadium in the region had to be canceled for more than a year. Some organizers, rather pessimistic for the coming weeks, have even already given up on events scheduled for June 2021, we think first of all of the Trail of the valley of the lakes (June 21), the most popular in Lorraine. Others, on the other hand, are betting on improving sanitary conditions by June to maintain their fetish event.
This is the case of the Trail du Saint-Quentin, of which this should be the 16th edition this year , for which registrations were launched on March 15. “We are working on an appropriate organization with only two events (one 16 and one 30 km) and a reinforced health protocol,” explains Jean-Luc Kirmann, the event manager at Athletics Metz Métropole. Among the tracks envisaged, the absence of supplies, the wearing of a mask at the start and immediately upon arrival and, possibly, staggered departures. “We also decided to block the number of participants,” says Jean-Luc Kirmann. Namely 500 runners maximum over the 16 km and 250 over the 30 km for this popular trail which usually attracts more than a thousand runners and whose start and finish are judged in Plappeville, in the Breuil park.

With this postponement, the organizers of the Municipal Sports Office hope to be able to celebrate in 2021 the 25th anniversary of the race. As in Plappeville, registrations are already open (around a hundred registered already) and we will rely on a reinforced health protocol, adapted to prefectural requests, to maintain the event. It remains to be hoped that the health situation will improve and that the government will ease the restrictions …
