GLASGOW 2024 / WORLD INDOOR ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS / DAY 1 (ANTONIS NIKOLOPOULOS / EUROKINISSI)

With the fairly good appearance of the sprinter Yiannis Nyfantopoulos, the Greek participation in the World Indoor Championships (or short track, as it is now called) in Glasgow began.

Nyfantopoulos qualified for the 60m semi-finals, but finished 4th in the heat with a time of 66.74 and was disqualified after the top three had passed. In the overall ranking, our 33-year-old champion took 29th place.

Tatyana Gusin will compete in the high jump final on Friday afternoon, aiming for a place in the top eight after having this year’s record of 1.91m.

Miltos Tedoglou will try to defend his long title at noon on Saturday (12.00), with the main opponent being the young Italian Mattia Furlani.

Sprinters Emmanuel Karalis and Katerina Stefanidis, hurdlers Kostas Douvalidis and Elisavet Pesiridou, triple jumper Dimitris Tsiamis and sprinter Polyniki Emmanouilidou also participate in the Greek delegation.
