Cologne (SID) – With the New York City Marathon on November 7th, another piece of normalcy should return to the Big Apple. One year after the cancellation due to the corona pandemic, the organizers, in coordination with the responsible authorities of the state and the city, expect a field of 33,000 participants for the 50th anniversary.
“The comeback of the race will show the strength, determination and inspiration of our great city,” said Race Director Ted Metellus when presenting the event plans.
From June 8th, participants can register for the canceled 2020 marathon with a start confirmation. According to the organizers, more than half of the registered participants decided to reserve a place for this year’s edition in the previous year. In the next two years, too, participants who are unable to attend can still register preferentially.
The marathon takes place under the generally applicable anti-corona protective measures. The prerequisite for participation is either a negative corona test with the current date or a complete vaccination.
