The French Blood Establishment organizes the challenger sports clubs of Cahors. The goal: to be the club that will give the most blood.
From June 6 to July 1, the French Blood Establishment in Cahors, located at 34 rue Charles Bourseul, is organizing for the first time, as part of the Trophées de la Vie, the Challenge Clubs Sportifs de Cahors.
The principle is very simple: sports clubs are in competition to receive the trophy. How to win? By having the most members who donated blood.
For now, the participants in the challenge are Pradines Badminton, Les Extrapédestres, the president of the Aéro-Club du Quercy, Rowing douellais, Pradines Lot Basket. But of course, beyond this challenge, the major and essential goal is to collect a maximum of blood donations in a summer period when the reserves are running out.
Remember that 10,000 blood donations are needed every day in France; 153,585 samples were taken in 2021 in Occitanie with 171,292 donors; 1 million patients are treated each year and 1 donation can save 3 lives.
Progress of the challenge: over the period concerned, a schedule of appointments will be dedicated to this challenge, it will be accessible on the site mon-rdv-dondesang.efs.sante.fr/. Each donor will be able to make an appointment at the time he wishes and will simply have to specify which sports club he represents.
The conditions for donating blood: be between 18 and 70 years old, have photo ID, be recognized as fit to donate, weigh at least 50 kg, have a sufficient hemoglobin level. The health pass is not necessary to donate your blood but the wearing of the mask remains obligatory.
So, whether you are practitioners, leaders, parents, volunteers, do not hesitate to register with the Maison du Don de Cahors to save lives!
