Athlete dream couple: gymnast Simone Biles accepts marriage proposal from football friend

American gymnast Simone Biles has accepted the marriage proposal of her boyfriend, football pro Jonathan Owens. According to a report in Der Spiegel the 24-year-old record world champion is overjoyed and can’t wait to spend her life with Owens.

The multiple Olympic champion wrote on Twitter: “You are everything I ever dreamed of and more. Let’s get married!” Four photos show the football player getting on his knees and asking for Biles’ hand in marriage.

Simone Biles won four gold medals at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. At the Tokyo 2021 Games, she caused a discussion about the expectations and pressure on athletes with mental problems.

Instead of the targeted six gold medals, she only won one silver and one bronze. Jonathan Owens has played for the NFL team Houston Texans since 2019. (jpc)
