With the participation of more than 1,500 delegates from all agencies and ministries of the National State, the Federal Plenary of Delegates of the State Workers Association was held, which was carried out in a mixed manner (in-person and virtual).
After a powerful day of protest organized by ATE in which massive contributions were made to all ministries and public organizations in rejection of the more than 11 thousand dismissals in the Public Administration, the union held a National Plenary this afternoon with the participation of more than 1,500 delegates from all sectors of the National State who, from every corner of the country, debated to define a new National Active Strike with mobilizations for next Friday, April 5.
The Secretary General of ATE, Rodolfo Aguiar, commented: “In a massive Plenary Session that was attended by 1,000 delegates from all over the country at the headquarters of our union, plus another 500 delegates who participated virtually, The deepening of the struggle plan of the state governments in Argentina has just been voted unanimously with an Active General Strike of the entire National State for this Friday, April 5. In this framework, we will mobilize en masse to the Ministry of Economy starting at 1:00 p.m.
While in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires what is expected to be a massive mobilization will take place at the Ministry of Economy at 1:00 p.m., in the rest of the country the type of protest will be defined in each district by the leadership of the union. During the plenary session, particular emphasis was placed on the urgent need for the workers’ confederations to call for a General Strike measure to put a stop to the destructive adjustment measures of the Government of Javier Milei.
“This escalation of the conflict in the State is not our responsibility, but rather it is the direct responsibility of the Government headed by President Javier Milei, which has decided to unleash an unusual level of aggression and attack on all our labor rights. For us, it is not enough just to have the strategy of resisting and defending ourselves against layoffs, but we have to be able to debate what is really happening in Argentina, because behind these massive layoffs in the State, what is in game is what will be the State we are going to have in the coming years,” Aguiar added.
The National Active Strike on Friday, April 5 will be carried out to claim for:
– Immediate reinstatement of all laid-off workers and cessation of layoffs.
– Regularization of all contractual links and transfer to Permanent Plant for all workers.
– Salary increase that exceeds inflation.
– Cessation of adjustment policies.
– Rejection of any privatization of public companies.
– Defense of the Sustainability Guarantee Fund (FGS) and all retired workers.
– Annulment of the Anti-Mobilization Protocol that attempts to curtail the right to petition the authorities.
– Cessation of intimidation policies towards state workers.
– Annulment of DNU 70/23.
