Liverpool received a big slap at home in the first match of the quarter-finals of the Europa League, Atalanta won 3-0, and they can already feel in the semi-finals with half a foot. Dominik Szoboszlai came on in the second half, but this time he could not help his team.
Liverpool–Atalanta 0–3 (0–1)
There were great chances on both sides – the home team even reached the post – and in the 38th minute, Gianluca Scamacca shot a ball into the center of Liverpool’s goal, goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher “checked” the attempt.
The captain of the Hungarian national team came on for the second half, and the substitutions made Liverpool’s game more lively. However, in the 61st minute, at the end of a bad offside, Scamacca, left empty, put the ball into the lower right corner. The home team scored an own goal, and then Atalanta turned away from Szoboszlai’s bad pass, and Mario Pasalic decided the match – and maybe the promotion as well. In the beginning, the English team did everything they could to make things better, but they were not successful, ending their 34-game unbeaten streak at home.
Rematches will be arranged in a week.
