TASS, December 15. The Italian football club Atalanta defeated the Polish Rakow 4:0 in the match of the sixth round of the group stage of the Europa League.
The winners scored goals from Luis Muriel (14th and 73rd minutes), Giovanni Bonfanti (26), Charles de Ketelare (90+2).
Atalanta’s Russian midfielder Alexey Miranchuk scored an assist in the episode with Muriel’s first goal. The Russian made his second scoring action of the season; after 10 matches, Miranchuk had two assists. Miranchuk was substituted in the 89th minute in the match against Rakow.
“Atalanta” finished the group stage in first place and reached the ⅛ finals of the Europa League with 14 points, “Raków” took the last, fourth place, gaining 4 points. The teams competed in Group D together with the Portuguese Sporting and the Austrian Sturm. “Sporting” took second place (11 points) and reached the playoffs of the Europa League; “Storm” (4) became third and will compete in the playoffs of the Conference League.
The Europa League playoff matches will be held on February 15 and 22, 2024, the ⅛ finals will be held on March 7 and 14, 2024. The draw for the playoff round will take place on December 18.
On February 28, 2022, the Union of European Football Associations and the International Football Federation suspended Russian clubs and national teams from participating in international tournaments.
