Cervical cancer or cervical cancer is the leading cause of death for Indonesian women and the world. The trigger is caused by infection with the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).
The HPV virus was first discovered in 1976 by Prof. Harald Zur Hausen. While the discovery of the HPV vaccine was successfully discovered in 2006, there is great hope that it can reduce cervical cancer cases, because the two are closely related.
“The types of viruses that are known to cause malignancy are HPV 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59 and 68,” explained Dr. Ilham Utama Surya SpOG, quoted from HaiBunda.
According to him, there are several types vaccine HPV which circulates as follows.
1. Vaccine bivalen
In order to prevent 2 types of malignant viral infections such as 16 and 18, bivalent vaccines need to be given. This can reduce the chances of developing cervical cancer to precancerous lesions.
2.Quadrivalent vaccines (HPV types 16, 18, 6, 11)
Meanwhile, for other types of vaccines, quadrivalent vaccines can be given. Apart from being able to prevent cervical cancer and precancerous lesions, this vaccine can also prevent genital warts which are triggered by infection with the HPV 6 and 11 viruses.
What are the benefits of the HPV vaccine?
Dr. Ilham said, research generally shows vaccines are 100 percent effective in preventing precancerous lesions. There is also cross-immunity resulting from HPV vaccination so far.
“If there has been infection with HPV 16 and 18, the vaccine cannot prevent the disease caused by that type of HPV but can prevent infection with other types of HPV contained in the vaccine,” he concluded.
I vaccinated for HPV this also seems to be given at the earliest possible age of a 9 year old child. Like what is the full explanation?
