At the weekend, the youngest Lithuanian professional will participate in the pool tournament in Alytus: he is only thirteen

This Saturday, the “Club 9” billiards club in Alytus will host a charity pool tournament “To victory with a mission!”, which will soon feature special participants.

A noble goal

It seems that there are not many places to play billiards in Alytus, but the Alytus Billiards Club, founded in 2012, has been successfully operating for more than ten years. It not only unites the people of Alyth who are interested in this sport, but also organizes weekly tournaments for amateurs and rarer experienced players. The next one will take place already this weekend – on April 19, at the billiard club “Club 9”, where not only those who want to compete, but also spectators interested in this game are welcome.

“For several years, our activities have been subdued, but I am glad that we are coming back not only with a great tournament, but also with a great idea. It will be a charity tournament, where we will donate the collected funds to the autism support fund “Embassy of Change”, which takes care of the education, procedures and support of autistic children”, says Tomas Verbickas, the founder of the Alytus Billiards Club and tournament organizer.

All collected entry fees will be donated to the foundation, and players will be delighted with sponsors’ prizes and gifts worth around 1000 euros.

Up to 48 players will participate in the tournament, including both professionals and amateurs. Those gathered will be able to admire how skillfully the 2023 Lithuanian “Pulas 9” champion Agnė Jarušauskaitė and the vice-champion Diana Jalinskienė play. A. Jarušauskaitė is also the president of the Lithuanian Women’s Billiards League.

Thirteen-year-old Đžuolas Tadaravičius, who has become a legend, will also compete in the capital of Dzūkija for the first time. He is the youngest Lithuanian pool athlete to achieve such high results.

The boy started his acquaintance with this sport when he was only 2 years old, watching his future coach father. He participated in the first tournament at the age of six and was awarded as the youngest participant. Ažuolas has been participating in men’s group competitions since the age of eight. This year, the teenager and his team took second place in the Lithuanian team championship. In the charity pool tournament “For Victory to Live”, “Pulas 9” took the first places in the groups of children and athletes. Last year, they took second place in the Lithuanian Pool Championship in the Pool 9 and Pool 10 categories.

“We warmly invite the people of Aly to come and enjoy professional, high-level sports. It’s a pity that there are still people who only associate billiards with bars and glasses of beer, but we want to show that it is a very precise, intelligent and very beautiful sport suitable for everyone, regardless of age or gender”, emphasized T. Verbickas.

In the charity pool tournament “To victory with a mission!” (for the autism support fund “Pokyčių ambasada”) – this Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m. in the morning billiards club “Club 9” Vilniaus st. 6 in Alytus.
