At the Trinité hospital, a general assembly in the presence of MP Marcelin Nadeau

A general meeting was held this Monday, October 7, at the Louis Domergue hospital in Trinitébetween the hospital staff of the establishment and MP Marcellin Nadeau.

This meeting made it possible to take stock of the situation of the services, to discuss the difficulties encountered, and to discuss the non-compliance with the Patrick Doré memorandum of understanding.

This protocol was established following a two-year strike led by the UGTM Santé union and hospital staff, initiated in September 2020.

“Unacceptable” working conditions

This protocol mainly aimed to provide the hospital with additional material and human resources to renovate and humanize services, while planning the reconstruction of the Trinité hospital center on a new site, that of Desmarinières. The project planned for 2027 has fallen behind schedule.

Steve Pivaty, representative of UGTM Santéwho has worked in the night emergency room for 32 years, described an intolerable situation.

Our working conditions are unacceptable. There is a shortage of beds in the establishment. It is not normal for people aged 90 or over to stay 24 to 48 hours in a corridor, under bright neon lights, lying on stretchers.

A medical and human emergency

Marcellin Nadeau, deputy for the Northemphasized the urgency to move forward on this project, both for the population and for hospital staff.

The medical project must be improved overall, starting with the renovation of the existing building, then with the reconstruction of the hospital. Although the Director gave us guarantees during a previous visit with my fellow MPs Giovanni William and Jean-Philippe Nilor, there is still much to do. The delay in the work has serious consequences, particularly on reception capacity. This is an extremely worrying situation.

Marcellin Nadeau should meet management by the end of October to discuss these issues.
