Will there be a “Heat” sequel? If so, Oscar winner Al Pacino would have a star ready to play the younger version of his character: Timothée Chalamet.

Michael Mann’s (79) film “Heat” from 1995 united for the first time two heavyweights of the acting trade in front of one and the same camera: Al Pacino (82) and Robert De Niro (78). The two stars chatted about the film at the Tribeca Film Festival. It has not yet been officially confirmed that there will be another part of the star-studded blockbuster. However, should that change, Pacino already has a favorite in mind for the younger version of his character, LAPD cop Vincent Hanna.

As the US site “Variety” reports, shooting star Timothée Chalamet (26) would be the perfect cast for Pacino. “I mean, he’s a wonderful actor. And he’s good-looking,” the Oscar winner joked. With his choice, Pacino could definitely fall on open ears: In addition to “Spider-Man” Tom Holland (26), the “Dune” star is one of the biggest draft horses of the dream factory at the moment.

Continuation just a matter of time?

That another “Heat” part could appear after more than 25 years is not just wishful thinking. Author and director Michael Mann will publish the book “Heat 2” later this year. This will take place both before and after the events of the first film, and will once again feature two men, Hanna (Pacino) and Neil McCauley (De Niro), who stand on opposite sides of the law.

“Heat” tells the story of career criminal McCauley and his accomplices who fall into the crosshairs of veteran police officer Hanna. The special trick of the film is to tell the plot from opposite perspectives and also to contrast the respective private lives of the two opponents. In addition to Pacino and De Niro, other roles include Val Kilmer (62), Tom Sizemore (60) and Ashley Judd (54).
