I hear more and more from the market, from conversations with Romanian entrepreneurs / owners, that they have no one to work with, they have projects, they have ideas, they have money, but they have no one to to implement all these things.

On ZF Live, Raluca Stanciuthe Franchwise brand ambassador, a consultant on the franchise market, said that money is currently not the problem in Romanian business, but the management team / teams, which cannot be found.

“There is money everywhere, but you can’t find anyone to work with it.” After the 2008/2009 crisis, the market split in two, respectively, middle managers and senior managers became less and harder to find them on the Romanian market because they went abroad or they left and did their own business, or they were kicked out and everyone went their own way, ‘doing something else. Everyone has money, and here I mean entrepreneurs / businessmen, but they don’t have people to work with looking for people, everyone is looking for teams, everyone has this problem.

Those who are doing well in business, those who have a key role do not really want to risk leaving the multinational organization and working for a Romanian company, for one -entrepreneurs who want things to happen overnight. No one is in the mood to start again, to look for replacements, to build second or third level teams, to do the work in business.

It has reached the point where there are ideas, there is money, but who will work? The economy is much more competitive, the markets are much more numerous, everyone has money in one way or another, profits are not made overnight, but in years. It is true that contractors/employers pay better now than they did 10-20 years ago, but they want quick results. No one wants to wait anymore. Each supporter in his own way is a type of Gigi Becali.

The problem of management teams can also be found at the level of investment funds that work on the Romanian market or that raise funds to enter the local market through the acquisition of Romanian entrepreneurial companies. All investment funds have money, they may have bought something to buy, but where are the management teams to run the business, because the fund manager is not from London, Vienna, Warsaw, Paris just coming to work is he here?

We have plenty of foreign investment funds that have identified several failures in Romania after acquiring some Romanian companies, and it is one of the reasons that the management team has been appointed. Some investment funds have come to change management teams every year. The model of recruiting CEOs from multinational companies does not always bring success.

Or the managers who were successful in business and who are employed on big horses could fail. Not because they don’t know how to drive, but because the markets are different, the competition is different, the luck is different. Many people do not know why they were successful managers for a company that works in one market and why they are not successful when they change the company and work in another market.

Multinational companies, ie foreign companies, have less of a management problem because they work according to a specific, impersonal model. Multinational companies are built to continue operating even if managers change, because they have established business models, rules and “user manuals”.

Romanian companies have not reached this point yet, just now the founders are trying to find someone to take over the management of the businesses they founded. And anyway, they are behind busy CEOs all day.

Who feels that he is a good manager, who feels that he has leadership skills, who wants to meet employees who would like to start a business on his own as “his own boss” . And that is why many are reluctant to go elsewhere, to work for other people. Anyway try, see what it’s like for yourself, when you have your own business, when you have to manage your own cash flow, when you have to fight after sales and after money to collect.

Many executives from multinational companies, but also from Romanian companies, enter the market with high hopes with their own business, but they quickly wake up to reality when they face the market. Many middle and senior managers believe that they can easily reproduce the model of a multinational corporation, with unlimited access to resources of all kinds – financial, human, operational, marketing – in a small company, which counting their money to pay the suppliers. It may take years for the new boss to receive the first salary of thousands of euros, as is the case with the multinational group.

As a conclusion, there is money on the market at the level of large Romanian entrepreneurial companies, there are ideas, but there are no teams to guide, to implement the projects. On the other hand, those who leave multinationals alone face the reality of the markets, which look different compared to how they saw it when the strength of multinationals was on the behind.
