The Grand Théâtre de Dijon as a place of reflection and exchange of ideas. Since March 15, the intermittents of the show gathered in the Coordination of Interluttants et Précaires (CIP) of Burgundy occupy the cultural center day and night. They organize moments of discussion and exchange to make their demands heard and obtain social progress in times of pandemic.
It has been almost two weeks since 50 to 60 volunteers take turns regularly to take the pavement and make their voices heard. An action that is part of the national movement of occupations of theaters inaugurated at the Odeon in Paris on March 4.

Make all the precarious heard
“Occupying the Dijon theater means having a place of work, being able to bring in people who will testify about their precariousness, but also to do educational work”, describes Agnès, intermittent in charge of production in the performing arts.
We are really in solidarity. And then in the education on precariousness as a whole and not just the cultural sector.
Agnes, intermittent
If the movement was initiated by actors from the world of culture, all trades can participate. “We are fighting for all the precarious above all. It goes well beyond the precariousness in the cultural world”, explains the one in charge of communication for the CIP.
Alexis Louis-Lucas is one of the intermittents who occupy the Grand Théâtre. In total, he was present for nearly 10 evenings and days in the establishment. “We feel isolated, and it wakes us up to find a movement. It’s a laboratory of ideas. All that is very motivating. It feels good”, confides the actor.
Moments of discussion and reflection
Concretely, every day from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., the movement organizes agoras on the forecourt of the theater where those who wish to speak. “We had a delegation of archaeologists who came, home helpers. These are very rich moments of sharing”, explains Agnès.
General assemblies then take place in the afternoon, bringing together 15 to 20 participants daily. “Our desire is that decision-makers can consider the fact that the intermittence regime is extended to all the precarious and that there is a real system of unemployment insurance for the precarious”, details Alexis Louis-Lucas.

A fight which passes, according to the intermittents, by the repeal of the reform of unemployment insurance which is to come into force on July 1. “It’s our priority, says Agnes. We have reproduced a few concrete cases. It is very telling. This is 24% less compensation for those who have contributed to unemployment insurance “.
The collective then founded a political commission which will meet with several elected officials to present its various demands.
It is very stimulating intellectually and psychologically

Every evening, 20 volunteers sleep in one of the rooms of the Grand Théâtre de Dijon. “We must always ensure that there are elders to pass on the baton and at the same time organize the handover. It should not be a small circle”, confides the actor.
“There are a lot of people asking to support us”, greets Agnès. Thus, neighboring restaurateurs and even individuals often donate food to allow intermittent workers to continue their fight. A prize pool is also available to support the movement.
